KANSAS CITY– Kansas City Command linebacker Tressor Baptiste (6-0, 240) has been acquired by the Seattle Seahawks, announced director of player personnel Ryan Myers Monday. The roster move will now put Baptiste on the Command’s other league exempt list, allowing it to retain his rights should Baptiste return to the Arena Football League.
Joining the Seahawks will be the second stint in the National Football League for the former University of Texas A&MKingsvillestand-out. Baptiste spent time with the Chicago Bears during the 2011 NFL preseason.
“We are excited to see Tressor have another opportunity in the NFL,” Myers said. “Our goal as an organization is to place as many players as we can in the NFL, while also giving our fans a quality product on the field.”
While attending Texas A&MKingsville, Baptiste played an integral part in a defense that led the nation and set a school record for fewest rushing yards allowed per game. He earned a number of accolades in 2010, including Lone Star Conference South Division Linebacker of the Year, first-team American Football Coaches Association All-American, second-team Daktronics All-American, and third-team AP Little All-American. Baptiste recorded 66 tackles on the year and led the Javelinas with eight total tackles for loss.
Baptiste was assigned to the Command on November 29, 2011 as a rookie free agent.
