Q & A with Xavier Lee

For this edition of the Command Center, WR Xavier Lee took the time to tell us about himself and how he is adjusting in the AFL.

Q: When were you first contacted by the Command and what was your initial reaction after they signed you?

A: My initial reaction was excitement. I was excited to go to a new city and make an impact on a team that needed my help.

Q: You were a standout at Florida State University from 2006-2008. Describe that time there and what memories stand out the most?

A: FSU was an amazing experience. We had amazing fans and a well run program. I’ve met life long friends.

Q: How was it to play for the legendary Coach Bowden and what was the important thing you learned from him?

A: Bobby Bowden lived up to reputation. He was a string Christian man that loved his players and coaches. I learned a lot from him. He was a good QB coach as well.

Q: You were signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens in 2008. What was that experience like for you and what was your first “welcome to the NFL moment”?

A: The NFL experience is everything that you could imagine and more. Everyone looks at you differently. My teammates were pretty professional and Ray Lewis was as intimidating as he seems.

Q: How was the transition for you from going from the outdoor game to the indoor game?

A: The transition from outdoor to indoor took a bit to get used to. But it’s an exciting game for the fans because they are right there.

Q: In your opinion, who is the most talented player you have played with and against throughout your entire football career

A:  Throughout my entire career the most talented players that I’ve played along side with have to be Lawrence Timmons, Antonio Cromartie, and And Leon Washington. Leon was a hard worker and rarely took days off. Lawrence and Antonio were the most naturally gifted players I’ve seen.. Next to myself that is. Just kidding.

Q: What would your ideal “dream” job be and why?

A: My ideal job would a pro golfer. You get to play a hobby that’s relaxing, don’t have to wear equipment, and get to see and travel the world.

Q: What are some of your hobbies and activities?

A: Hobbies would be golfing, basketball, watching family guy, and playing NBA2k12 on play station 3.

Q: If you had to describe the AFL game to someone who has never seen it what would you say to them?

A: I would describe the AFL game as hockey and basketball mixed with football.

Q: What is one interesting fact about yourself that most people don’t know?

A: An interesting fact about me I love to snowboard and golf on my free time.
