Can you describe the audition process?

Upon confirmation of application, participants will be forwarded details regarding confirmation of audition date/time and requirements. Generally speaking, auditions consist of a combination of technical and dance skills. Dance skills are defined as combination of jazz, pom, improv and hip-hop skills. Technical skills include but are not limited to: double, triple and quadruple pirouettes; side leaps, switch leaps, turns in second, basic cheer motions and toe touch.

What qualities are you seeking for the 2011 squad?

We are looking for well rounded individuals of quality character with outgoing personalities. 2011 Command Girls are an important reflection of the team in the community and on the field. Dance technique, personality, experience and ability to work with others will differentiate successful participants. Talent and ability to lead a crowd are as important as sharp motions with great placements. In addition to splits and high kicks, our judges will focus on energy, enthusiasm, personality and poise.

What is considered appropriate attire for auditions?

Participants are encouraged to be well groomed including hair and makeup. Preferred attire for auditions includes black shorts, crop top and appropriate footwear. Sports bras are permitted.

What are the steps in the audition process?

Participants must provide complete insurance information to participate in auditions, Sprint Center reserves the right to open portions auditions the auditions to the public. Evaluators will consist of representatives of the Kansas City Command whose goal is to select the best all-around representatives of the team and venue.
Results will be posted on this page by Jan. 21, 2010 at 5 p.m. The decision of the judges is final.

What is the height or weight requirement? Is there an age requirement?

Although there are no weight or height restrictions for the 2011 Kansas City Command Girls, as representatives of the team and venue, participants are encouraged to maintain appropriate physical and mental condition necessary to perform required duties. Participants are required to by 18 years of age by Jan. 1, 2011. There is no maximum age limit.

What are the benefits to being a member of the 2011 Command Girls?

As an ambassador for the Kansas City Command, you will have the opportunity to perform in front of thousands of screaming fans at Kansas City’s state of the art arena, Sprint Center. Apparel and shoes will be provided as well as two complimentary tickets per game. Squad members will have access to outstanding facilities, select per diems and performance compensation.

What is the time commitment?

During a nine (9) home game season, successful candidates will commit to rehearsals, games and community/sponsor public appearances.
